NEW YORK: day #1: the story
April 2, 2011 | Uncategorized | 3 CommentsMy day started at 4.30am, time to get up. I could varely eat (I ate three bites) and at 5am we left for the airport. After Anabelle dropped me off I could go. My luggage got checked twice, because I had tweezers in it, haha! Then I got on my flight and it was BEAUTIFUL! It was still dark when we left and I could see the lights. We were flying north, on my side I could see the sun cone up, including all the colors and on the other side it was still dark!
My flight arrived 20 minutes early on Chicago. There I asked a passenger behind me about how I should go to my gate, since tere wasn’t a gate on my boardingpas. She told me and then we walked out. She got her luggage and I had no idea where to get mine, so she helped me again! When I came out of the tunnel she was standing at the end, pointing at an employee. She then walked away. She had already told the man to help me! I couldn’t say thanks to her anymore and even though I know she doesn’t read this: a HUGE thanks!
I went to my gate (B10) but when I got there, there was no spot left to sit. I had gotten a bit hungry, so I bought a banana and ate that. Then we boarded again and I was sitting next to the path, so I could not see outside, sadly enough. It was a really boring flight, haha. In New York I had to look for the other terminal (and I had to go by airtrain, hihi) but I found the Belo people!
There were a few other exchange students and we talked a bit before we got picked up by our van to bring us to the hotel.
Here in the hotel we got our t-shirts and roomkeys and free time until dinner at 7pm. We went to our rooms and dropped our luggage and then we went to Subway around the corner for lunch. When we were back here we went to the pool and swam a bit, we walked around, hung out and talked a lot. About our countries, states, families, religions, habits and thoughts about different subjects. At dinner we had a buffet with salad, chicken, pasta, fries and a whole lot of cookies (for dessert, but just as good before, haha!) during dinner we got a presentation about our trip and Bernardo (the Belo-father) read all the countries (if your country got called, you stood up and waved. I am the only one from the Netherlands!)
After dinner we went to the pool to hang out again (we don’t bother other people when we are there and they have a lot of place.) and the guy from turkey (I forgot his name, sorry if you read this, haha!) threw me in the pool with my clothes on! Those are now drying, but I am going to let him get a laundry coin, haha!
Tomorrow we are getting hiphopclasses and we are going to Central Park. I am not sure if it is tomorrow, but I remember something about going to Times square, yay!
Later I will post a list of the countries that are represented here. We have almost a 100 students and a lot of people from Germany and Taiwan.
Well, it has passed midnight now, so I better go to sleep, if I can ignore the leaking toilet (about which we are telling the manager tomorrow, its annoying!) Goodnight!
Ps. Sorry for any spelling mistakes, it is hard to write when you are tired and write 600 words on your ipod..)

Wow, i’m so jealous, haha. I’m glad you had fun yesterday! Hopefully it’ll be a great day today! But I’m sure it will be :)
