NEW ROOMS: the wardrobe

April 14, 2011 | Uncategorized | 4 Comments

This is the first post in a serie of posts I started to write about decorating my new room(s). I wanted to wait a little bit to put these online, but I didn’t feel like writing a new piece today and I am really excited to hear what you guys think about posts like this. And besides, this way you guys still have something to read! And hint; little introduction to the New Next Chapter on which I still have to work!

I love my clothes and even though they will be divided over three rooms next year, I still need (want) a lot of space for my clothes. I love it when I can just hang my clothes in the wardrobe, because they don’t wrinkle, it looks nice, I can’t fold and I can see exactly what I have (for when I forget, haha!). I would love to have a wardrobe like this:

but in white

but I am not sure. I really like the way it looks, but how much fits in there? Especially if (probably) half is hang space and the other half is for folded clothes. If it is all hanging space, that would be really cool and this is the one I want. My parents had a wardrobe that covered almost a whole wall. They had loads of clothes in there (just like my old stuffed animal bunny, haha), but I could never fill something like that. The perfect solution? The PAX system!

You can plan your whole wardrobe! How many parts do you need and do you want shelves or hanging space? They even sell shoe hangers for these systems (hihi, good excuse to buy even more!). The bad thing is that it is big (if I get a room around 20 square meters, I want the PAX system!) and really expensive. So I guess I need the one showed above, haha.
I have seen tons of pictures of bed rooms where the (usually) girls have a clothingrack in their room with their favorite pieces or the things they wear most. I would love that, but it takes a lot of extra space and how do you decide what can go on there and what not? Besides, those are not high, so I would probably throw half of my clothes just over there.. The perfect solution?

I love this one! It is white, I love the little windows, there is a lot of hanging space, but also drawers in which I can put other things like socks, scarfs, underwear and PJ’s. And I wouldn’t even have to open the doors to see what I still have hanging in my closet. If I wouldn’t try to decorate a room, but an exhibition, I would just hang one pretty dress in there.

With both these wardrobes (not with the PAX system!) I would need an extra dresser, I think. With the black one it depends on how it is parted on the inside, but with the white one; these drawers are not enough! I need place for scarfs, PJ’s, socks, underwear and things like that, but also other clothes like my sportswear, loungewear and everything. I don’t want to hang those up, haha! Especially since you can look inside! (And mom, that is the best excuse you can ever think of to tell me to clean out my wardrobe! Otherwise everybody can see the trash that’s in there, haha!)

This one would be perfect! It is not too high, so I could put decorations on top if it. (Television? Mirror?) The drawers are also really cool! I could use the little ones for just little stuff (make-up?) or accessoires. In the bigger drawers I could just put the clothes I don’t want to put in the wardrobe showed above. Or my winter clothes during the summer and the other way around. I would probably have space left, so I could put some other stuff in too. They also have this one a bit higher, but I don’t like that one a lot. (And to match it with the white one above, we can just change the handles in that one, haha!)

What kind of wardrobe do you guys have? Are you also this obsessed with where you clothing goes?

they all look nice and all have their advantages.
If you wouldn’t choose the one with just the drawers you can still admire it because it’s in the house already ;-).
Mostly wardrobes are sold without shelves, you have to buy them in an extra package.
My new wardrobe has shelves on one side, on the other side is a double posibility to hang your clothes. Not ideal for dresses, but I don’t have loads of that so for me that’s no problem.
We will see what you choose.
Have fun looking for the best solution.
