NEW ROOMS: the bed

June 4, 2011 | Uncategorized | 4 Comments

I would say that the most important ‘item’ in every one of my rooms (I sound so spoiled!) is the bed. As long as I can remember, I have had a high bed. Until I was six, I had the top bed and my sister had the one underneath. Then I got my own room and I took that upperpart with me, so I still had a high bed. The space under my bed is taken by my wardrobe, a little bookcase and a drawer. But not anymore! In my rooms I want a big bed, in which two persons fit. Why? Because I am 18, I am big, I need one (haha). And I have friends that come over from the other side of the country, they need to sleep somewhere too. And I don’t like it when she is lying on the floor and I am 2 meters higher, haha.

Here in America I do have a big bed and I love it! I was looking around on the Ikea site (that will be the easiest to get my stuff from. But I am promising myself; the basics from Ikea, the rest mostly from all other stores! And the best would be if it had a story behind it, like my promdress!) and I have some points the bed had to require. Of course it has to be comfortable, but assuming they all are, these are a few of my favorites.

Good things: It is white. It doesn’t have a end (the headboard is for sale individually). Place for storage (with it you can buy drawers and in the headboard is also place for storage.) No wood. Nice! Bad things: Without a headboard, it doesn’t look that good, so it is more expensive to buy it with it.

Good things: No end. One color (no wood). Bad things: No storage that fits it for sale. It is black.

Oeh, pretteh! Not for me, apparently. Good things: Pretteh, haha! Bad things: Dark, wood, no storage, it has an end.

Good things: Storage space, white, no end. Bad things: It would probably look better with a headboard. Oh, funny thing: this one is from the same serie as the first one, only this one already has drawers underneath, haha. So they have the same individual headboard (which looks really good! Space for books, a lamp, enz)

Aaah! Good things: It has the thingies around it! I can so see myself with curtains and those christmaslights around them, how awesome would that look? And it is white, haha. Bad things: It has the thingies on the end (no jumping on from every side), no storage.

The comforter and other things you put on (which are blue on the last picture), I would want those in white (looks clean, but might be too much white), dark grey (make it less light!) or preferably in a shade of the color in my room. But just in one color, probably not with designs. Because I want my rooms to be relaxing and calm. Oh, and fold a plaid at the end, I like the way that looks! (And it keeps your feet warm, haha.) Which one do you guys like? What are your requirements for a bed? I think I like the first and fourth (almost the same, haha) the most!

Honey, I’m home!

Wednesday was the day I left. The worst day ever, haha. My suitcase was 10 pounds to heavy! Luckily Dana (my rep) could take some stuff and she is gonna send it. Ariel, Dakota, Jazmin, Anthony and Marysol came to the airport to say goodbye, aren’t they the best? After an hour waiting it was time to go to the gate. Rolf and I went to the gate and had to wait a bit more. Then it was time to get in. The planes that go from Wichita to Chicago with United are really.. ghetto. They are small (2 seats, walk space, 1 seat), make a lot of noise and we didn’t get water or a snack. Well, after 2 hours we were in Chicago. I ate something and we went to our gate. Into our HUGE plane. 3 Seats, walk space, 3 seats, walk space, 3 seats. We got a meal (the cheesecake was awesome, the rest sucked and my water was frozen), they came by with drinks all the time and on the screen in front of me I could play games, watch a lot of movies or series, listen to music or radio and follow the flight. It was so cool! In Londen we waited for a bit and went on the next plane. I told Rolf to wake me up if they came by with snacks or a drink, because I was hungry and thirsty. Then I woke up from the announcement that we were getting ready to land. We had to put the seats up, headphones off and everything. So I look around, Rolf fell asleep too, ha! We got our suitcases and then it was time to finally meet our families again!

My sister and dad got me roses (thank you!) and it was nice to hug them again. I said goodbye to Rolf and we went home. First I went with my mom, to see her new house. I love it! We ate knackerbröd with Dutch cheese and talked with the neighbor a bit. I also tried to bike, but it didn’t go really well, haha! My mom brought me and schoonbroertje (my sisters boyfriend) to my dads house. I got another tour, we had dinner and I cleaned my room a bit. I went to sleep and this morning I woke up at 8am! My sister and me went to the mall and tonight we are gonna watch a movie. For now; I am going to read my new book outside!
